Maqadi is in beta. This guide describes how the app works for beta stores; details may still change before launch.
Failed payments
Sometimes a renewal can't be charged: the card expired, the balance was too low, or the bank declined. Maqadi handles it calmly, without interest or late fees.
What happens
- The charge fails. The customer gets a message explaining it, with a link to update the card or pay by link.
- Maqadi tries again on a schedule. By default it tries 1, 3 and 5 days after the first attempt; you can change the days in Settings → Payments.
- If one of the tries succeeds, the order is created as usual and the subscription continues.
- If the last try fails, Maqadi does what you chose: the order waits until the customer pays, or it is skipped and the subscription continues with the next date.
What Maqadi never does
- No interest and no late fee, ever.
- No extra charge for the retries.
- No cancellation without telling the customer first.
Following up
The Failed payments section of the dashboard lists every renewal that is waiting, with the reason given by the payment provider (when available) and the next retry. You can also skip the order or cancel the subscription from there, for example after talking to the customer.
Payment links avoid most failed charges, because the customer pays when ready. See payments.
